Proposed development
The proposed development relates to the refurbishment, upgrading and enhancement of an existing internal space within the Reach Ability Bellefield campus, forming part of the Astro Active Community Centre. The space is located within an extension to the Community Workshop for which planning permission was granted in 1989 to provide an enlarged working area. Historically, this area has been used for the provision of day services for people with disabilities. The proposed works comprise the internal refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing accommodation to create a modern, flexible and accessible multi-purpose community space. The works include improvements to accessibility, energy efficiency and the internal environment, together with the provision of high-quality accommodation to support community participation, learning, social inclusion and wellbeing for people with disabilities and the wider community.
