PROTECTED STRUCTURE: For development at a site within the Royal Dublin Society (RDS) Grounds, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. The development will consist of amendments to the new Anglesea Stand, permitted under register reference 3937/23. The proposed amendments to the permitted stand include: a) minor alterations to the internal arrangement including relocation of lift cores; rearrangement of plantrooms, stores, WCs and bars; omission of internal event space corridors; addition of a flexible servery space at Level 02; and; cross bracing structures within the stand. b) alterations to the external elevations to include an increase in the overall height to c.24.04m (c.2.74m increase); alterations of signage zones including an increase of c.7sq.m on the north elevation of the new stand; provision of 2 no. roof maintenance access platforms; and; provision of 2 no. additional pitch access points from the lower tier seating and reduction of vomitory widths. c) amendments to the permitted finishes including omission of glazing at Level 1, and part replacement of render with precast concrete at Level 0. d) increase in total capacity of the stand to 6,844 (69 no. additional spectators). There is no increase in the overall footprint of the permitted new stand.The proposed development will also include relocation of the permitted substation east of existing South Stand and its construction (c.29sq.m in area and c.4.3m in height) at the western site boundary; and; relocation of a generator to the eastern boundary of the site.

What happens next

Permission was granted on 8 Nov 2024. Third parties may appeal within four weeks; after that the permission is final and works can start once a commencement notice is lodged.
