PROTECTED STRUCTURE: Royal Dublin Society intends to apply for permission for development at this site at: Royal Dublin Society (RDS) Grounds, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. Protected Structure: The development will consist of development and amendments to development permitted under Reg. Ref. 3937/23 as amended by Reg. Refs. 2142/24, and WEB1374/25. The proposed amendments will include : Relocation of permitted pedestrian route c. 2m south of existing location within site to accommodate sufficient space for installation of new transformer and associated screening enclosure. Relocation of permitted pedestrian access gate from existing location on Anglesea Road (R815) c. 2m south along site boundary wall on Anglesea Road to align with proposed amendments to pedestrian route. Revised landscape proposals. The proposed development will include: Installation of a new 6.25 sq.m transformer (2.5m length and width, 2.2m height atop 200mm concrete plinth for total height 2.4m) south of the ESB substation (as permitted under Reg. Ref. 3937/23 as amended by Reg. Refs. 2142/24 and WEB1374/25). Installation of 2 no. rigid metal mesh gates and fencing (c. 2.8m height) screening enclosure for transformer along south and east boundary of transformer and substation. Installation of full screen (c. 2.65m height) planters along west site boundary adjacent screening enclosure for transformer, and mid screen (c. 2m height) planters along south and east boundary of transformer screening enclosure and substation. All site works. There are no proposed works to the ESB substation.

Permission was granted on 6 Feb 2026. Third parties may appeal within four weeks; after that the permission is final and works can start once a commencement notice is lodged.
