The works to be completed and for which this permission is sought include the completion of new external steps from ground level to the basement level of the Chapter House Tea Rooms, completion of the extension of the Chapter House Tea Rooms external seating area, completion of the finishes to the roof of the basement kitchen to include an alteration to a limestone chip finish in lieu of paving, omission of steps to the roof of the basement kitchen, and completion of revised soft landscaping proposals. All works will take place in the grounds of St. Mary's Cathedral, James's Street & Blackmill Street, Kilkenny. St. Mary’s Cathedral and the adjacent Chapter House are Protected Structures and located within the St. Mary’s Architectural Conservation Area
