Proposed development

Richard and Edel Joyce seek permission for modifications to, and extension of Dorn Hall, 18 Harbour Road, Townparks, Skerries, Co Dublin, K34 PX05 to facilitate the reinstatement of the entire property as a single family dwelling house. Removals include: single storey extension to the entrance façade off Harbour Road (3m2), extension at ground floor into the former light well under the main entrance steps on the south east elevation (2.7m2) and a two storey wing to the northeastern gable end (84m2), comprising of 2 bedrooms, kitchen and WC at ground floor level and kitchen/ dining room and associated external terrace at first floor level. Total removals comprise 89.7m2 floor area. This proposal also includes minor alterations to the original house comprising modifications to the existing entrance door to the northwestern facade, and the relocation of an existing chimney stack to the northeastern gable of the original structure. Additions include: 3 level extension to the northeast with new bedroom and utility room at ground floor (66m2), new kitchen/ dining/ sitting room at 1 st floor level (94m2),and balcony overlooking the existing garden to the southeast, and a new sitting room/ work from home office with balcony, and master bedroom at 2 nd floor level (97m2). Total additions comprise 257m2 A new terrace deck and single storey storage shed (9m2), is also proposed at the northeastern end of the site at level +9.935 The works will include the complete refurbishment and repair of the external and internal fabric of the original structure and the reversal of the multi unit modifications made to the property in the mid 20 th C. Proposed landscaping works are limited to removal and replanting of trees at the proposed location of the master bedroom at the upper level (+9.935). The completed proposal will provide a single family dwelling of 593m2 on a site of 0.24 hectares.

What happens next

The decision has been appealed to An Coimisiún Pleanála. The appeal outcome replaces the council decision.
