Proposed development

for a 10-year planning permission for works to upgrade the Kingscourt Wastewater Treatment Plant (WwTP) in the townland of Corgarry, and construction of an outfall pipeline in the public road corridor and in private lands in the townlands of Corgarry, Cabra, Cormey and Mullantra, all in the Electoral Division of Kingscourt in County Cavan. The proposed development consists of the following works: (1) Demolition of existing Inlet Works and replacement with new Inlet Works including a Dual Function Overflow Chamber, Flume, Screens, and Grit and Grease removal units; (2) Decommissioning of the existing Storm Water Tank and the Storm Water Overflow (SWO) outfall at the WwTP; (3) New Dual Function Overflow outfall pipe connection from the new WwTP Inlet Works to the single outfall to the Cabra Stream (Glyde_010); (4) 1 no. new underground Storm Water Holding Tank and associated SWO outfall pipe connection via a single outfall to the Cabra Stream (Glyde_010), adjacent to the WwTP; (5) 1 no. new underground drainage attenuation tank; (6) Outfall Pumping Station and new Primary Discharge Outfall pipe from the WwTP (ca. 3km) to the River Lagan (Glyde_020); (7) Chemical storage tanks and dosing equipment for alkalinity boosting phosphorus removal and sludge treatment; (8) 1 no. Sludge Dewatering building, 1 no. Welfare building and 1 no. of Motor Control Centre (MCC) kiosk; (9) An odour control unit consists of High-Density Polyethylene carbon filter units and associated above ground ductwork; (10) A new Electricity Supply Board substation; (11) Demolition of the existing tanks and structures not used in the future design, i.e., inlet works, primary settling tank, trickling filters, rotating biological contactor, hummus/settlement tank, storm tanks, sludge mixing tank, sludge holding tank, return pump sump, admin building, and reed beds area; (12) Extension of internal access road and provision of a turning head; (13) Demolition of the existing access bridge over the watercourse at the north boundary, and construction of a new access road and bridge; (14) Open tank process units, including below and above ground pump and drainage chambers, effluent pumping station with a surge vessel, biological reactors, clarifiers, and sludge treatment units; (15) Ancillary works: a) Access platforms; b) Provision of a back-up generator with a built-in diesel tank to be used in an emergency/power cut; c) Provision of paved/peb
