Proposed development

Replacement (“restringing”) and uprating of c. 5.23km of the existing conductor on the Athy -Carlow 110 kV OHL circuit; - Provision of fibre communication connection on the uprated circuit; - Replacement of 10No. existing Intermediate Wooden Polesets, with similar structures. The replacement of these structures will result in standardised heights from 17m to 22m, with height increases between 1m and 2m. 1no. replacement Intermediate Wooden Poleset (structure 106) will be relocated approx. 21m from its current position; - Replacement of 6No. existing Intermediate Wooden Polesets crossarms; - Bar member replacements to 2No. existing steel angle masts and 1No. existing end mast; - Recapping works to be carried out on shear blocks at 2No. existing steel angle masts and 1No. existing end mast; - Foundation strengthening of 1No. existing steel angle mast and 1No. existing end mast; and, - All associated works/development including insulator/hardware replacement (strain clamps, suspension clamps and vibration dampers), replacement of bolt, replacement of line identification and danger notices, painting of angle masts, replacement/installation of anti-climbing guards, access tracks, vegetation clearance, temporary construction compounds and all other works necessary to facilitate the development. A Natura Impact Statement has been prepared and will be submitted to the planning authority with this planning application
