Permission for development which consists of: Permission is sought by Damree Developments Ltd for the construction of a Residential Development at Coolough Road, Ballinfoile, Galway City. The development will consist of the: 1. Construction of 47 no. residential units across 4 no. building blocks as follows; a. Block A consists of a 3 storey duplex building to the south-east of the site, comprising of 4 no. 1 bed ground floor apartments and 4 no. 2 bed upper floor apartments, b. Block B consists of a 3 storey duplex building to the south of the site, comprising of 9 no. 1 bed ground floor apartments and 9 no. 2 bed no. upper floor apartments, c. Block C consists of a 3 storey building to the west of the site. The southern end of the building consists of 1 no. 3 bed apartment on the ground floor, 1 no. 3 bed apartment on the first floor and 1 no. 2 bed apartment on the second floor. The remainder of the building consists of 5 no. 2 bed units and integrated bike store at ground floor, and 5 no. 3 bed duplex units on the upper floors, d. Block D consists of a 3 storey duplex building, comprising of 4 no. 1 bed ground floor apartments and 4 no. 2 bed upper floor apartments. 2. Replacement of existing agricultural entrance with the provision of a new vehicular and pedestrian entrance off the Coolough road (L-1021-2 road) to the south, 3. Provision of a 4m set back from existing roadside kerbs along Coolough road frontages, to facilitate future active travel routes, 4. Revised boundary treatments, 5. Provision of single storey bin store/bike store buildings, 6. Provision of public open space areas (to include for a play area), private open space areas, footpaths, public lighting, hard and soft landscaping, 7. Provision of car parking to include accessible spaces, dedicated EV spaces and EV ducting to all spaces for future electric charging points, 8. Proposed connection to existing mains water infrastructure, 9. Proposed on-site surface water drainage arrangements and connection to existing storm sewer network, 10. Proposed connection to sewer network via a proposed sewer extension along the Coolough road (L-1021-2), together with all associated site works and services. A Natura Impact Statement will be submitted to the planning authority with this application.

What happens next

The application has been lodged and validated. The council has eight weeks to decide, unless it asks for further information. The council's decision is due by 10 Sept 2026.
