Proposed development
Permission for upgrade works at the Freemount Water Treatment Plant (WTP). The development will consist of the following: Coagulation, Flocculation and Clarification: Upgrade of poly aluminium chloride (PACI) chemical delivery area, with concrete road sloped to a new drainage gully and dedicated spill tank to contain any potential chemical spills during the delivery process. Disinfection: Install an outdoor bunded chlorine bulk storage tank with a capacity of 2m3 equipped with chemical dosing cabinet. New emergency shower and chemical delivery area for spill containment, new drainage gully connected to dedicated underground spill tank. WTP Residuals: Decommissioning of the existing residual tanks. Refurbishment of the existing used wash water equalization tank (UWWET), including installation of 1 No. mixer and pump replacement. New backwash pump kiosk housing the new backwash pumps and upgraded residuals treatment MCC panel. Installation of 1 No. new 119m3 sludge settlement tank. Installation of a UWWET pumping station. Installation of 1 No. new 16m3 sludge balance tank including for recirculation pumps. Installation of sludge balancing pumping station. Installation of 1 No. new 24m3 picket fence thickener. Installation of a sludge holding tank feed pumping station. Installation of 1 No. new 82m3 sludge holding tank with facility for off-site tankering connection. Ancillary Works: Installation of manholes, access chambers, instrumentation, monitoring equipment & controls in accordance with Uisce Eireann’s technical standards. General groundworks, surfacing, landscaping, ducting, drainage and pipe work associated with the proposed works described above. A Natura Impact Statement (NIS) will be submitted to the Planning Authority with the application.
